Do you need to use a special character in OSX, like a Greek letter or an accented character? It is quite simple if you set yourself up to do it, by using the Character Palette.
First open the International Preference Pane, click on the Input Menu tab and check the Character Palette.
Now you will see a new icon in your menu bar. If you choose "Show Character Palette"
A window will appear which shows you the available characters. To use a character, all you need to do is click the Insert button or double click the character. You can add an often used character to the favorites folder to make finding it the next time far easier.
